
Kenyan star athlete Faith Kipyegon has once again broken another world record in Monaco. The Diamond League that happened on 21st July 2023 got many celebrating the athlete for her stunning performance in a one-mile race. This is after she finished the race with a record time of 4:07.64
Kipyegon crushed the record that was set by Dutchwoman Sifan Hassan in 2019 again in Monaco. This is her third world record in two months after she won in Florence with a time of 3.49.11 seconds in June 2023. Later, the superstar athlete broke another record in the 5000M race in Paris France when competing in Diamond League. The time set is 14:05.20 and this was her first attempt to run the 5000m race. She has broken three records within two months.
On the 21st July mile race, Faith Kipyegon dominated from the start to the end and it was clear that she was to compete with the wave light technology. This was after pacesetters dropped. The gap between her and the second runner was quite far.
Where did Faith Kipyegon Begin?
The eighth of nine born child from Rif Valley who is now a mother and 29 years old started running when she was in primary school. She switched from football to athletics and that is when she started her career. Her breakthrough started when she won the 2011 World Cross Country junior race. Again, in 2013, she won the junior race 2013 in Bydgoszcz. But her senior course started after the 2012 London games. After Beijing in 2015, she has stood on the podium four times.
She is expected to participate in the August 2023 world championships in both 1500m and 5000m. And from history, no woman has won both races in a single championship. She may make some other records here if she focuses and the environment allows.
After Faith Kipyegon, Ciara Mageean came second with a time of 4:14:58 while Ethiopia’s Freweyni Hailu was third with a time of 4:1458. All top eight finished under 4:17.
