The eagerly awaited Euro 2024 is finally here. Germany vs Scotland match shall open the tournament. It takes place in Allianz Arena in Munich at 10 pm EAT.
The last time the two teams met was 2015 where Germany won by 3-2. They are focused to win this too. “It’s only the second time Germany has hosted a European Championship. For the players, and for myself as a manager, to take part in a tournament on home soil is a unique opportunity. There is pressure involved, but more so joy. If we can see that joy on the pitch, then we will have a great tournament.” Said Germany coach.
In contrast, Scotland’s head coach Steve Clarke is prepared for a hard face-off with the host. “Germany is going to be very good. It’s their home tournament and they won’t want to let anyone down. When it gets to the big stage, the German national team are always one of the most dangerous teams. We expect a tough game, but hopefully we can give Germany a tough game as well.” Said Clarke.

Germany misses the presence of Leon Goretzka, Serge Gnabry and Timo Werner will miss out of the team for various reasons. Additionally, Bayern Munich midfielder Aleksandar Pavlovic won’t appear because of tonsillitis has forced him to withdraw from the squad. Borussia Dortmund’s Emre Can, takes place. However, Julian is expected to double pivot Toni Kroos and Robert Andrich. While Niclas Fullkrug and Kai Havertz scrap to spearhead the charge.
On the other hand, Scotland will miss Lyndon Dykes in action following ankle injury sustained during injury. As well, Ben Doak pulled out of the tournament, although he was nursing knee injury from December last year. John Sout and goalkeeper Craig Gordon dropped out after Clarke cut his ranks to 26. However, the likes of Andy Robertson, Scott McTominay and Stuart Armstrong should all be primed and ready to go after battling back from knocks, while Ryan Jack was absent from training on Tuesday but is not thought to be in any danger of missing the contest.
